Ebrahim Gabriels is a notable Islamic scholar and community leader from Cape Town, South Africa. He has made significant contributions to the Muslim community through his roles in various organizations and his advocacy for social justice. Born and raised in Cape Town, Gabriels experienced the hardships of apartheid, which greatly influenced his dedication to fighting for equality and justice.



He pursued Islamic studies in Medina, Saudi Arabia, earning degrees in Sharia and Theology. Returning to South Africa, he became deeply involved in community leadership. He served as the President of the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) from 1998 to 2006, where he focused on religious guidance, educational initiatives, and social welfare programs. His leadership extended to the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) and the Al Quds Foundation, where he continues to play a vital role.



Gabriels is particularly known for his advocacy for Palestinian rights. He has organized numerous solidarity campaigns and led humanitarian missions to Palestine, driven by his own experiences with apartheid. His work with the Al Quds Foundation has been instrumental in educating the community about the Palestinian struggle and supporting various initiatives related to this cause.



In addition to his activism, Ebrahim Gabriels has served as the Imam of Al-Masjidur Rawbie in Portlands for over 35 years. His long-standing dedication to his community is evident in his efforts to provide spiritual guidance, promote unity, and foster understanding. Gabriels’ contributions have had a lasting impact on the Muslim community in Cape Town and beyond, earning him widespread respect and recognition.



Gabriels continues to be a prominent figure in promoting peace, unity, and social justice within the Islamic community, reflecting his commitment to making a positive difference in society.
