Welcome to iGen

Welcome to iGen

Eric Anderson, Keri Albert

Welcome to iGen introduces listeners to a unique educational program in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. iGen, which is short for intergenerational program, is a partnership between Sherbrooke Community Centre (a long term care home) and the Saskatoon Public School Division that sees 25 grade six students from across Saskatoon spend their school year learning with and from the residents of Sherbrooke.

The iGen program started in 2014 and has made a difference in the lives of hundreds of students and residents. This podcast will share how iGen works in a long term care setting and introduce you to the students, residents, teachers, staff and parents who care so much for the program.

It is our hope this podcast will inspire teachers and long term care staff to see the amazing benefits of intergenerational relationships and how they can form their own unique intergenerational programs in their communities.
