Adam Bennett Schiff (born June 22, 1960) is an American lawyer, author, and politician serving as the junior United States senator from California, a seat he has held since 2024. A member of the Democratic Party, Schiff served 12 terms in the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2024 and was a member of the California State Senate from 1996 to 2000. Schiff is the first Jewish man to represent California in the Senate. Schiff graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
